May 2023 - Advantech, a provider of industrial embedded AI solutions, grandly released the RSB-3810, a 2.5-inch Pico-ITX single-board computer that uses MediaTek's flagship chipset Genio 1200. The solution supports 4.8TOPS of high-speed AI inference while consuming only 8 watts of power. The product also integrates MediaTek 5G and Wi-Fi6 connectivity to support IoT applications, including robotics and industrial IoT.
Powerful and efficient multi-tasking performance, suitable for IoT application scenarios
At the heart of the RSB-3810 is the MediaTek Genio 1200 chipset with a powerful octa-core configuration. It uses 4 advanced Arm Cortex-A78 and 4 Cortex-A55 processors, all integrated in an advanced 6nm chip. The resulting excellent energy efficiency, RSB-3810 power is only 8 watts, but it can easily handle computing-intensive workloads. To enable seamless on-device AI computing in deep learning, neural network (NN) acceleration, and machine vision applications, the Genio 1200 chipset integrates a dedicated dual-core AI processing unit (APU). This dedicated unit can output an impressive 4.8 TOPS performance parameter, which also ensures the RSB-3810's stable performance in AI-driven tasks. This intelligent architecture achieves a balance between system performance and power consumption by efficiently offloading tasks from the host CPU.
RSB-3810 includes 3 MIPI-CSI and USB 3.0 ports, excellent camera input, embedded star-level ISP. In this way, vision-based intelligent systems can operate effectively even in extremely low light conditions. RSB-3810 integrates Mali-G57 chipset, supports H265 4K60 video capture and 4K90 image processing, and is oriented to a wide range of AI application scenarios. Additionally, the product enables multi-monitor setups via a 4Kp60 HDMI and a dual-channel LVDS.
In terms of connectivity, the RSB-3810 provides the necessary I/O interfaces for advanced network and peripheral connections, including 1x M.2 3052 Key B and 1x M.2 2230 Key E slots. In this way, the device can be seamlessly integrated with MediaTek 5G and Wi-Fi6/BT network modules. In addition, the product is also applicable to the GbE TSN (Time Sensitive Networking) protocol for efficient data transmission in monitoring systems and equipment. The above features make RSB-3810 an ideal solution for edge computing applications in industrial IoT and surveillance.
RSB-3810 widely supports various operating systems, including Ubuntu and Android, to meet the requirements of different development environments for AI and edge computing applications. Advantech has cooperated with Canonical, the parent company of Ubuntu, to enhance the enterprise-level Ubuntu support and provide pre-installation and certification services. These moves ensure efficient over-the-air security updates, freeing developers to focus on core applications while reducing time-to-market.
For robot development, RSB-3810 seamlessly integrates with ROS2 kit. The software package is based on Advantech's AIM-Linux embedded software, customized for the Robot Operating System (ROS) environment. With the addition of MediaTek NeuroPilot SDKs, edge intelligence features are further enhanced by using the APU inside the processor. The high level of software integration of the RSB-3810 greatly reduces the time and resources required for robot development and simplifies the development process.
